Mountainside Educare is based on the principles of relationships, respect and communication. We endeavour to provide a quality education and care early childhood centre, that is a home away from home experience.

Akonga benefit from child initiated learning through their interactions with people, places and things. We believe in free play, whilst ākonga develop their self-control, within clear guidelines that enhance each child’s knowledge, skills and attitudes.

Kaiako facilitate the environment to scaffold children’s learning as co-constructors of knowledge. We value a genuine partnership with parents built on mutual trust, respect and open honest communication.

Our commitment to the Ministry of Education’s Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki, provides the basis for our curriculum. Kaiako plan and assess children’s individual learning using the model of Notice, Recognise, Respond and Revisit. This encompasses our centres learning priorities, children’s interests and our whanau aspirations.

We respect the unique position of Māori as tangata whenua in Aotearoa/New Zealand. We encourage an awareness and appreciation of the bi-cultural heritage of our country. We are committed to upholding the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and the use of Te Reo Māori as a living language. Our centre provides an inclusive environment with equitable opportunities for all ākonga, kaiako and our whanau community.
