Jacqueline (Jac)

Acting Centre Manager / Lead Kaiako

Grad Dip ECE, Grad Dip Primary, B Arts

I am originally from Katikati in the Bay of Plenty and have been working in early childhood since 2009. After studying in Dunedin I moved to Wanaka with my partner. In 2016 I joined the Riverside Team where I taught in the baby room. I went on maternity leave in February 2018 and then decided to join the Mountainside Team to cover Amanda's maternity leave.

I thoroughly enjoy working with young children, travelling, being in the kitchen and spending time at the beach or lake with whanau and friends.

I am grateful for being able to provide tamariki with the opportunities to play and grow. I am also very passionate about using te reo and role modelling tikanga maori to the tamariki here.

I started at Mountainside Educare in June 2018.

B Ed (ECE)

I completed a Bachelor of Education (ECE) in 2006, and taught in Dunedin for a few years. After a break overseas I came back to Lake Hawea, Wanaka in 2010 and enjoyed working in ECE in Wanaka for 6 years until Mountainside Educare opened in February 2016.

Throughout my 10 (plus) years teaching in ECE, I have worked with all ages; infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

I believe in rich, meaningful relationships with the children and their whanau, established through honest and respectful relationships.

I started at Mountainside when it opened in February 2016.

I moved down to Wanaka, from Auckland, at the end of 2015 and was lucky enough to get a job with the Mountainside team.

I originally graduated in Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Event Management. As I have always wanted to work with children I then went on to complete my Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education in 2015.

I worked at Kindercare in Auckland for a couple of years, before deciding to move down here with my partner.

I love working as an Early Childhood teacher and am proud to be apart of the children's development and growth.

B Ed (ECE - Primary Year 3)

I feel very fortunate for being able to work back in Wanaka and at such a special Centre. My family moved here when I was 12 and after completing my Bachelor of Education Degree in 2007, I came back to Wanaka to start my ECE career. After two years I moved to Nelson where I continued my passion working in Early Childhood.

I enjoy creating art, cooking, and gardening and love sharing these interests with children. I believe in building strong relationships with children and I am passionate about helping children find ways to express themselves as they continue their journey to become confident learners.

My husband and I have now settled back in Wanaka, with our gorgeous girl named Harper who loves coming to Mountainside Educare with me.

I started at Mountainside Educare in August 2017.
