Centre Manager / Lead Kaiako - Currently on Maternity Leave

B Ed (ECE)

I completed a Bachelor of Education (ECE) in 2006, and taught in Dunedin for a few years. After a break overseas I came back to Lake Hawea, Wanaka in 2010 and enjoyed working in ECE in Wanaka for 6 years until Mountainside Educare opened in February 2016.

Throughout my 10 (plus) years teaching in ECE, I have worked with all ages; infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

I believe in rich, meaningful relationships with the children and their whanau, established through honest and respectful relationships.

I started at Mountainside when it opened in February 2016.

Assistant Lead Kaiako / Acting Centre Manager

Grad Dip (ECE), B Arts

I moved down to Wanaka, from Auckland, at the end of 2015 and was lucky enough to get a job with the Mountainside team.

I originally graduated in Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Event Management. As I have always wanted to work with children I then went on to complete my Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education in 2015.

I worked at Kindercare in Auckland for a couple of years, before deciding to move down here with my partner.

I love working as an Early Childhood teacher and am proud to be apart of the children's development and growth.

B Ed (0-8years)

I have recently moved up to Wanaka, from Dunedin. I have a Bachelor of Education and graduated many years ago. I have worked in many Daycares and Kindergartens during my time as a teacher. My most recent teaching experience was spending 3 months earlier this year teaching in a Summer School in Turkey.

The moment I walked into Mountainside I knew this is where I wanted to work. The teachers, children and whānau are what makes this place so special.

Kaiako

I moved to NZ from Denver, Colorado, USA in May with my partner, Mark who is a chef from Bristol, England. We are both living and working in Wanaka for the year (at least!) and I am thrilled to be apart of the wonderful Mountainside community.

I obtained my Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2010 and my Masters in Education & Human Development with a focus in Early Childhood Education from the University of Colorado Denver in 2015.

I am inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which is an approach to early childhood education in which the child is viewed as strong, capable, competent, and full of potential. As educators, we are seen as a co-learners alongside the children, sharing in the simple yet fruitful joys of inquiry and discovery of the world around us.

I could not be more excited to grow and learn alongside the kaiako and tamariki of Mountainside

I am originally from Quebec in Canada. After completing my certificate in travel and tourism I become an Au Pair and travelled all around Canada, Europe and Australia.

I came to New Zealand in 2008, married a kiwi and have 2 wonderful sons. I love Wanaka and wouldn’t change a thing in my life!

I love the flexibility of working at Mountainside Educare and enjoy the balance of being a working Mum.
